This site is maintained by the Hackney Downs User Group (HDUG). The User Group (founded in 1983 and relaunched in 2007) is a voluntary forum for local people who use and care about Hackney Downs.

Hackney Downs is a large unenclosed open space of 16.9 hectares in the centre of Hackney. The London Borough of Hackney took over responsibility for its management from the Greater London Council in 1986. John Zeraschi is the Park Manager (Tel: 020 8986 8615) johnzeraschi@hackney.gov.uk. An information point in the park is usually manned during park opening hours
